The Youth Committee of NUSI visits the State of Kerala

NUSI Youth Committee with Cochin seafarers.

From the 19th to the 24th of June 2016, members of the Youth Committee of the National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) visited the State of Kerala.

Around 70 Seafarers from Aluva, Vypin, Trichur, North Paravur, Kochi, Lapuzha and Ernakulam, attended a meeting along with their families. Kochin’s Women wings also joined them.

NUSI Youth Committee and seafarers visit Kerala Orphan Rehabilitation center.

In their visit to Kottikullam the NUSI Youth Committee joined the Merchant Navy Club (Reitred Seamen) team, and Kottikullam Youth Wing Club Seamen as well as seafarers from Poochakkad, Periar, Udama, Mandangad, Pallakkunum, Kottikullam.

They also visited the Government Lower Primary School UDAMA (G.L.P.S.) were NUSI had donated Four Lakhs Fifty Thousand Rupees for making Dinning Room, and the Merchant Navy Club (Retired Seamen Club) were they have 180 Retired Seamen Members.

During this year, NUSI’s Youth Committee representatives have visited Nhava, Gujarat, Konkan (Thrice), Chennai, Mangalore, Kolkata, Diu/Ghoghla, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh State of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention, equality, social issues and the importance of joining a union. This falls under the umbrella of NUSI’s welfare scheme that allows them to support social activities.
