Barbados Workers’ Union Youth Seminar & Congress

As part of the union’s continued training for young workers a youth seminar entitled “Young Workers and the Trade Union Movement” was  held at the Labour College from 23rd – 27th May.  This seminar addressed topics such as:  Team Building, Productivity In A Working  Environment, A Review of the Shops Act & The Employment Rights Act and Managing Workplace Conflict.

The B.W.U’s Youth Congress was held on Friday 27th May 2016 in the Sir Hugh Springer Auditorium at Solidarity House under the theme “75 Years Of Living The Legacy.”  The Congress commenced with an Opening Ceremony where Mr. Cleviston Hunte, Director of Youth Affairs delivered the feature address and the General Secretary, Comrade Toni Moore gave remarks.  The day’s proceedings continued with the business session which included topics such as: The History of the Barbados Workers’ Union, Customer Care Versus Customer Service and Domestic Abuse And Its Effects.  The day concluded with elections for the 2016-2017 Youth Arm Executive Committee.
